College for nurses
The school is situated in the village of Tulangan Sidoarjo, Indonesia and was founded in 2009. In 2010 the first courses took place. The founder Mr Iwan Setiawan (born in 1960) is a personal friend of Dave Soepriyadi.
There are two motivations for founding such a school. On one hand Mr Setiawan saw the hospitals need for medically-qualified staff. On the other hand, this staff are overqualified when it comes to giving injections or changing bandages. Due to the costs these people were not employed resulting in the employment of nurses. However, this occupational group are not well represented on the work-market due to the rare training-possibilities.
Mr Setiawan knows of young people whose aim it is to work in a hospital. They unfortunately do not have the financial means to obtain the necessary education.
The training college is the solution for these problems.
They train nurses free of charge and are kept in operation by the continuing flow of donations.
At the moment 30 students (28 women and 2 men) are being trained by 17 qualified staff.
The hospitals have signed a contract which guarantees that all the students will be employed. The students are able to gather experience by doing practical training in the hospitals and outpatients’ clinics.
It is Global Netwings dream to be able to give their regular financial support. The aim is to occupy the hospitals with qualified nurses who were able to do their training for free.
